April is considered as the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) month. In its celebration, Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines satellite office in Region X together with Department of Trade and Industry-Misamis Oriental and Innovation and Technology Support Office-USTSP conducted series of IP focus sessions that would cover the basics of the different intellectual property rights. The event aimed to educate young people about the invention process and promote a positive image of inventors, raise awareness about IP, its legalities, penalties, and the like. The sessions were held at Cagayan de Oro-Negosyo Center Training Room on April 3, 10 and 24, 2019.
The participants were Assistant Professors Delyn M. Bucay, Charry Neleene P. Canoy, Lilibeth Coronel and Heidie Amor A. Parcia, together with, Ms. Djannez M. Dadole and Richelle A. Niepes. The topics were patent and utility models, trademarks and designs, and copyright and related rights, respectively.
